Han Guoliang has been described as “one of the most prominent flutists in the world.” He graduated from the Central Conservatory School of Music in Beijing, studying there under Wang Yongxin. In 1988 he won a scholarship to study a Masters Degree at the Boston University School for the Arts. After graduating, he was active among many American orchestras, winning prizes in several national and international flute competitions. He has studied under the famous flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal and other world-class teachers.

In recent years, Han Guoliang has performed in Europe, Australasia, the US, Japan, Taiwan, Macau and other locations. He has given solo concerts, worked as flute professor at the Chinese Central Conservatory of Music, and performed as the invited principal flutist for the Chinese National Symphonic Orchestra. With this orchestra he has performed with world-class masters Charles Dutoit, Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin, Seiji Ozawa, Rostropovich, Li Delun and others, both in China and abroad.

In the last 20 years he has recorded many outstanding records and worked with several famous modern Chinese composers. He has also been invited to be an adjudicator and standing artist at music competitions both at home and abroad. During this time, his students have been awarded many prizes at competitions in Europe, Japan, America and other countries.

Han Guoliang is currently flute professor at the Central Conservatory of Music and princicpal flutist of the China National Symphonic Orchestra. He is guest professor at the China Music School, the School of Music of the Capital Normal University, Art College of the China People’s Liberation Army and Qingdao Ocean University Music College. He is also Vice-President of the China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles.
