PURCHASED FROM FLUTISTRY

Introduced by the San Antonio Express News as “shining in the storm, bringing gorgeous poetic breaks between the pounding flashes of jaw-dropping action”, Mark Teplitsky began his tenure as Principal Flute with the San Antonio Symphony in 2016, a few weeks after graduating from Rice University. This appointment has led to invitations at performance venues across the US as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, pedagogue, and lecturer.

Shortly after joining the symphony, Mark was invited to become a Core Member of the Olmos Ensemble, collaborating with guests such as Vadim Gluzman, Jon Kimura Parker, Jeffrey Kahane, and Jon Nakamatsu. Their concerts with Mark, in addition to his concerts with San Antonio CactusPear Music Festival and San Antonio Symphony, can be heard broadcasted regularly on Texas Public Radio.

As an orchestral musician, Mark has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, and San Diego Symphony. Mark’s recent notable concerto performances included Carmen Variations and two evenings of all six Brandenburg concertos with Jeanette Sorell and the San Antonio Symphony during the 18-19 season.

As winner of multiple concerto competitions Mark performed as soloist with the Music Academy of the West Orchestra, Shepherd School of Music Orchestra, Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, Colburn Orchestra, and the Hear & Now Contemporary Ensemble.

Enthusiastic about teaching, Mark has given masterclasses at the University of Texas San Antonio, University of Texas Austin, University of Texas Rio Grande and guests as a pedagogue for the youth symphony.

Mark can be heard performing on recordings with the Olmos Ensemble “Made in France”, the Fort Worth Symphony ”Jimmy Lopez Bellino Symphonic Canvas”, and soprano Sasha Cooke’s”If You Love for Beauty”.
