Nathanaël Carré was born in 1989 in France. He studied at the conservatories in Lyon, Paris and Freiburg under the renowned professors Mihi Kim, Felix Renggli, Davide Formisano and the pianist and musicologist Tibor Szasz, who all helped him to develop his musical interpretation and flutistic skills. He later studied conducting in Stuttgart with Christof Löser.

Nathanaël has been successful in many national and international competitions, among others: several 1st Prizes at the Clé d’Or competition in Lyon both for piano and flute, 1st Prize and ‘Best Performance of a Contemporary Work’ at the Jeunes Espoirs Competition, 2nd Prize at the “Domenico Cimarosa” International Flute Competition in Italy, and the 1st Prize “Carl Seemann” in Freiburg, Germany.

In 2012, while still studying at the conservatory in Freiburg, Nathanaël – aged only 22, won his current position of Principal Flute in the Stuttgart State Opera Orchestra. In addition to performing in this post, Nathanaël also leads an active schedule as a soloist and chamber musician with a highly varied repertoire, and gives masterclasses internationally.

In 2015 he founded the Ensemble Nuanz with musicians of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart, with whom he recorded in 2019 his debut CD “Palette”.

Nathanaël is proud to be a Haynes Artist and plays a Wm. S. Haynes Handmade Custom 5% Gold Flute.
